Dumfries and Galloway Greens are standing three candidates in the local elections. Alis Ballance will be contesting Annandale North, while James Smyth is standing in Dee and Paul Taylorson is our candidate in Castle Douglas and Glenkens.
Alis Ballance is Convenor of the Dumfries and Galloway branch of the Scottish Green Party. She is also a founder of the community-owned environmental charity, Moffat CAN which, since its launch in 2009, has raised around half a million pounds towards energy efficiency, local food and recycling for the town. Alis was elected as a Scottish Green to Dumfries and Galloway Health Board via the recent pilot direct election, following her involvement in the local cottage hospital closure campaign.
We’re also standing two candidates in the Scottish Borders. Michael Scott will be contesting Kelso and District, and Kevin Ferguson is standing in Hawick and Denholm.
