Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Greens will be fielding more candidates for the forthcoming Council elections on 3rd May than every before. Most people in the City and Shire will have the opportunity to make a positive choice by voting Green.
Councillor Martin Ford is known as a very active and hard-working councillor. He has campaigned on a wide range of local issues. He is particularly associated with the campaign for a rail halt at Kintore and pressing the Council to commit to replacing Kinellar School and building a second school at Kintore to address overcrowding caused by rising school rolls. He has repeatedly highlighted poor governance and undemocratic behaviour by Aberdeenshire’s ruling Liberal Democrat/Conservative coalition and the SNP opposition’s collusion with these behaviours.
Rhonda Reekie is leading our campaign in Aberdeen City and is committed to retaining Union Terrace Gardens despite the narrow vote in favour of City Square.
A popular local choice, Rachel Shanks lives in Stonehaven with her husband and their three children. Rachel Shanks said, “I am delighted to have been chosen as the Scottish Green Party’s candidate for the Stonehaven and Lower Deeside ward. I want to see the Council giving education the priority it deserves. Nothing is more important than ensuring young people are prepared for adult life, and that every child’s needs are met.”
You can read more about all of the candidates on the Aberdeen Greens website, and you can also read their local manifesto. Aberdeen Greens are also available on Facebook and Twitter, and you can email them aberdeen@scottishgreens.org.uk
